The head of the EU Delegation in Skopje, Samuel Zbogar, assessed on July 2 that the adoption of the draft Negotiation Framework was another significant step for North Macedonia on the path to the EU.

"Another important step for North Macedonia on the road to the EU. The European Commission sent a draft Negotiation Framework to the EU Council for consideration of the member states," Zbogar tweeted.

North Macedonia's deputy prime minister in charge of European affairs, Bujar Osmani, has stated that he expected the final text of the negotiation framework to be adopted by October. In his words, the European Commission adopted the draft on July 1, about which the member countries will each declare their national position, and then the negotiation framework will be adopted by consensus.

"That will become the EU's definitive position about the contents of the negotiation framework, after which the first inter-government session can be scheduled – and that is the formal start of negotiations about full membership in the EU. It is good that this is taking place during the presidency of Germany, which is very supportive of our European path," Osmani stated.
