The president of the Dveri (Doors) Movement, Bosko Obradovic told BETA on Aug. 5 that the movement would not be part of the United Opposition of Serbia, and assessed that the current authorities had to fall before the next regular election for the Belgrade City Hall and the Serbian presidential election, both of which are due in 2022.

"I welcome the forming of the United Opposition of Serbia and expect the Serbian Movement Dveri to be the partner of the new opposition alliance in many issues that pertain to defending the fundamental democratic values in our society. Regardless of the fact that Dveri would not be part of the United Opposition of Serbia, there is no reason not to continue our technical cooperation in the fight for media freedom and democratic elections," Obradovic stated.

He said that nobody could beat the current authorities alone and that cooperation among the opposition parties was crucial. He added that Dveri was open for talks about a unified opposition ticket for an early parliamentary election and the city election in Belgrade, and about a joint candidate for the presidential election.

To the question about what would be his proposal for a peaceful solution to the social and political crisis, Obradovic replied that the forming of a transitional government and new general elections in nine to 12 months were the only way out of Serbia's current situation.
