Health Minister Zlatibor Loncar on Aug. 18 said that the number of hospitalizations in Covid-19 care facilities and patients on ventilators had been reducing, while the number of medical checkups in infirmaries was still large, noting that between 1,500 and 1,600 people were examined in Belgrade on a daily basis.
After meeting with heads of Covid-19 hospitals, Loncar said that the Zvezdara Hospital had switched back to its normal activities and would start admitting “non-Covid-19” patients on Aug. 19.
Loncar told the state broadcaster RTS that coronavirus patients would be moved out from the Banjica Orthopedic Hospital, which would undergo disinfection procedures and would be ready to admit orthopedic patients in four to five days.
He also said that new laboratories for testing had been opening due to people with symptoms and also for testing on personal request.
