A six-member medical team from Italy for providing assistance in battling the coronavirus has completed its mission to Serbia and returned to Italy on a special flight, the country's ambassador to Belgrade announced on Aug. 18.
Two anesthesiologists, an emergency physician, a specialist for infectious diseases, a surgeon and nurse arrived in Serbia at the start of last month in accordance with an initiative by Italy's ministry of foreign affairs and international cooperation. Their mission in Serbia was coordinated by the department for civil protection stemming from an agreement between Italy's and Serbia's governments.
During the mission, the Italian health workers were greeted by Serbian Minister of Health Zlatibor Loncar. They also visited the Serbian Clinical Center, the Clinic for Infectious and Tropical Diseases in Belgrade, the Zemun Hospital, the Bezanijska Kosa Clinical Center, Nis, Novi Sad and Kragujevac.
