Kosovo Prime Minister Avdulah Hoti said on Sept. 2 that all the compromises Kosovo could have accepted were made when the country endorsed a former Finnish president, Martti Ahtisaari's plan, and that mutual recognition was the only form that the normalization of relations with Serbia could possibly take.
Hoti spoke to Pristina's media in Washington, saying that "this is the best moment ever for Kosovo to make its statehood complete."
"I urge everyone, the Self-Determination movement and the opposition, to unite over the consolidation of Kosovo's statehood on an international scale. The dialogue is a strategic issue, and it has gained extraordinary momentum that might lead to its completion, owing to great support from our key friends. It doesn't look good when political rivalries flare around these issues," Hoti said.
According to the Kosovo PM, the ruling coalition has aligned its attitudes towards the dialogue. "We would like this issue to be settled as soon as possible, but it is not entirely up to us. We are doing our best by articulating clear principles, which our friends do not oppose in the least," Hoti said.
