U.S. special presidential envoy for negotiations between Serbia and Kosovo Richard Grenell said in Belgrade on Sept. 22 that the U.S. was serious about meeting its promises to Belgrade and Pristina and transforming them into new jobs.
"We want to meet the promises that we gave earlier to Serbia's officials, we do not want to just deal in words but to focus on economic development for the benefit of the people," Grenell told reporters.
After a meeting between the Serbian president and prime minister Aleksandar Vucic and Ana Brnabic and a U.S. delegation headed by Adam Boehler, the CEO of the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation, Grenell said that "symbolism is important, but it does not bring food."
Grenell, U.S. President Donald Trump's envoy, said that Trump "is determined to come to Belgrade." "He has voiced a desire to come, but I don't have a date. Vucic offered President Trump a big vision of what he can expect from coming to Belgrade," Grenell added.
Vucic told reporters that any country in which the Americans wanted to invest in had a future. After signing a joint statement on opening an office of the International Development Finance Corporation in Belgrade, he said that today was an important day for Serbia.
