Epidemiologist Predrag Kon on Oct. 20 said that Belgrade, Kragujevac and most likely Valjevo would see an increased number of coronavirus cases over the next period.
In a statement to TV Pink, Kon described as important the pace of slowing down “the acceleration of virus transmission,” which depended “exclusively on citizens’ behavior.”
“Everywhere around us, the virus has been exhibiting high potential, it has been transmitting very fast as we are entering the time of the year when it is most active. The more we slow it down, the fewer tragic outcomes we will have,” said Kon, a member of the Crisis Headquarters, reiterating the recommendations that a face covering should be worn “everywhere, at every place.”
“Collective consciousness that masks should be worn while we still do not have a herd immunity could be of much help,” Kon said, adding that by epidemiological parameters, Serbia was still doing much better than the rest of Europe, which, he said, was largely due to the fact that Serbia had earlier entered the so-called third wave.
