Serbia's leading epidemiologist Dr Zoran Radovanovic said on Nov. 1 that the number of citizens with Covid-19 was expected to continue rising and that there would be more and more cases.

Dr Radovanovic said in a comment for the Nova.rs portal that the number of coronavirus cases would continue to grow until the end of November or early December. "When they will peak I can't say, but that's what it is destined to happen. Had we taken better care, and by that I mean the Crisis Headquarters, there would have been fewer cases and the wave would have been stretched out considerably," the doctor said after 1,817 cases were reported in a single day.

Radovanovic said that another reason for the surge was that national borders were unprotected. "Many of my colleagues have complained that no one asked them at the border where they were coming from, which was mostly Montenegro and Croatia, which have a very high number of cases," the epidemiologist said, adding that Serbia had failed to test people enough even though the World Health Organization had been warning for months of the importance of doing so.
