Serbia's Covid-19 Crisis Team disappeared on May 7, when a state of emergency was lifted and apparently a decision was made that elections mattered more than health, allowing for "a cover-up" we've been witnessing since, Dr Zoran Radovanovic, a prominent epidemiologist, said on June 24.
"You can't wait for the election to be over to say something everyone knows already. Everyone knows that things have been hidden and hushed up. It's disappointing to know that someone was aware the real numbers higher. Their tacit acceptance is horrible. No one in the Crisis Team can say they didn't know, because that would be even worse," the retired professor said in an interview with the N1 TV.
Dr Radovanovic also said that it's "tragic" if the Crisis Team "had no idea whether there were less than 100 new cases or 400 a day," explaining though that he didn't think anyone was deliberately playing with human lives. "This was, like, keep it quiet until the elections, we'll deal with the consequences later," the epidemiologist said in the interview
