The campaign for the June parliamentary election cost around 30 percent less than the one in 2016, according to the results of the research of the Transparency Serbia (TS) organization, published on Nov. 12.
The program director of TS, Nemanja Nenadic, stated at the on-line news conference that the campaign, judging by data from the 18 published reports of the political parties, coalitions and groups of citizens, cost RSD1.224 billion, or EUR10.4 million.
He added that other participants in the election, including the Socialist Party of Serbia-Unified Serbia coalition, part of the ruling bloc, had much fewer possibilities to collect funds for the campaign, which, coupled with the boycott of the significant part of the opposition, had pushed the costs down.
As for the officials' campaigning, the conclusions of TS show that Aleksandar Vucic had dominated the election campaign and overshadowed not just the other officials of the Serbian Progressive Party and other parties on the ticket that bore his name, but also all other participants in the election.
