Belgrade Mayor Zoran Radojicic on Dec. 22 said that a final decision had been made to ban mass gatherings for New Year’s Eve in the capital, and appealed to fellow Belgraders to be careful also during other holidays due to the grave situation.
“There can be no relaxation, this is an important period, holidays are the time when we want to be together, but we have to persevere for another few months considering that we have great medical news and that we are seeing the entire world getting vaccines,” Radojicic told TV Prva.
He further said that attention had to be paid to balancing between stricter measures and possible relaxation, which was the case at the moment.” “As a doctor, I always have fears and concern when we opt for relaxation of measures, while on the other hand, I am aware that for the health system to function, business and catering facilities also have to operate,” the Belgrade mayor said.
