Speaking before Serbian MPs on Dec. 28, Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said on Dec. 28 that her cabinet was a pro-European one, and that accession to the European Union (EU) remained Serbia's priority, but that she believed the actual accession depended on the members of the Union.
In a comment on conclusions made with respect to the European Commission's report on Serbia for 2020, which the MPs were discussing, the prime minister said that authorities in Serbia had carefully examined every progress report by the Commissionthe , trying to make the journey to the Union "as quick as possible, but also the most thorough one."
Prime Minister Brnabic said that all the requirements had to be met, laws and strategies endorsed, but most importantly "a substantial change needs to be made."
"Whether and when Serbia will become a member of the EU depends solely on the will and political readiness of EU members, but it is our duty to make sure that the reforms Serbia implements on its path to the Union improved the quality of life for the citizens of Serbia," the Serbian PM said.
