According to the results of a survey published by the Politika daily on Jan. 11, the percentage of those who believe in COVID-19 conspiracy theories is much higher in the Western Balkans than in the rest of Europe, with three-quarters of respondents subscribing to these stories. In Serbia, the number is somewhat lower, with 41.5 percent of respondents believing these theories to be true.
Citing the results of a survey conducted in October by the Atlantic Council from Washington and the Balkans in Europe Policy Advisory Group, the daily writes that every third person in Serbia will not get vaccinated against COVID-19, while 20 percent of the respondents said they will or will probably receive the vaccine.
The survey also shows that the vast majority of citizens believe that the so-called pharmacomafia is behind the spread of the virus. One-third of the respondents is of the opinion that the Chinese government had made the virus in a lab, or rather that it “escaped” a lab in the Chinese city of Wuhan.
A smaller number of those polled think that Bill Gates is responsible for the virus, while the smallest group believes that there is a connection between the 5G network and the pandemic, according to the poll.
