19 people died from the consequences of the coronavirus infection in Serbia in the past 24 hours, raising the total number of fatalities to 3,810, it was announced on the covid19.rs web-site on Jan. 20.

10.511 people have been tested and 1,646 new cases of infection registered since the last update.

There are 175 patients on ventilators, out of the 4,924 who are being treated for the disease in hospitals.

Since the start of the epidemic, 377,455 cases of infection have been confirmed in Serbia.

Virologist Milanko Sekler stated on Jan. 20 that, in order to beat the epidemic, it was necessary to vaccinate as many people as possible against the coronavirus, in the shortest possible time, and not allow the process to "drag on." "The time frame is very important because, if vaccination were to drag on over a longer period, it would begin to lose the point," Sekler told the Serbian Broadcasting Corporation.
