Serbia's leading epidemiologist Dr Branislav Tiodorovic said on Jan. 20 that a new Covid-19 strain hadn't been detected in Serbia, "which doesn't mean it won't be either, as it has appeared in Slovenia and Hungary."

"The scientific community has described the new variant of the virus as easier to spread between people, and perhaps, more contagious, but from a clinical point of view, the symptoms are the same compared to the type of the virus we know," the specialist said after he took China's Sinovac vaccine at a health center in Nis.

As he put it, a mass vacinnation campaign is important insofar as it can raise collective immunity rates "to over 60 or 70 percent, which would stop this serious disease."
