President Aleksandar Vucic has stated that Serbia has received a total of 293,000 doses of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine so far and that he expects that the country will begin producing the Russian vaccine by the end of 2021.

Having welcomed the latest batch of vaccines from Russia, comprising 100,000 doses, at the Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport on Feb. 28, Vucic explained that that shipment, given its composition, is intended for revaccination. Another two million doses of the Russian and the same quantity of the Chinese Sihopharm vaccine has been arranged, he added.

Russian Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko is certain that the latest shipment shows just how successful the two countries are in their collaboration against the virus, adding that there will be more deliveries.

“This collaboration is very important – a friend in need is a friend indeed. The collaboration has proved that our relations are brotherly and that we are always ready to help each other,” Botsan-Kharchenko concluded.
