Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Aug. 14 that "no one can destroy" the ironclad friendship between Serbia and China and that he believes "we will have a continued responsible policy" after elections in Serbia in October or November.

"I believe that lately, thanks to Chinese President Xi Jinping, we have established an ironclad friendship between China and Serbia. No one can destroy that," Vucic said during a tour of the construction site for the Expo 2027 specialized exhibition in Belgrade, accompanied by Chinese Ambassador Li Ming.

Stressing that the construction works are progressing but also need to be expedited, Vucic said that Serbia "relies on great additional support from [our] Chinese friends." He added that he is grateful to Chinese companies for bringing new workers.

"We have engaged everything there is in Serbia in the works," said Vucic, adding that it is crucial for Serbia to manage to complete the plans related to Expo and be "the best possible host."

Chinese Ambassador Li Ming said that "the Expo exhibition will be a great opportunity for Serbia and the Chinese government hopes it will take place successfully."
