Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Selakovic said on March 3 that accession to the EU remained Serbia's key foreign policy priority and added that he saw the whole region as a part of a united Europe in the future.

In an interview with Munich-based daily Suddeutsche Zeitung, Selakovic said that many difficult issues would be easier to solve if Brussels showed more political will and interest in the well-being of citizens of the region and its integration into the EU.

He went on to say that Berlin's support was "very important for Serbia, especially in the process of accession to the EU." When asked whether Serbia still aimed for membership in the EU, despite all the failures, Selakovic replied: "Absolutely."

"All the reforms we have initiated in the past few years are focused on that. We belong to the European cultural space. We are the first Western Balkan state to have accepted the European Commission's new methodology for the enlargement process," he added.
