Over the past 24 hours 4,398 people tested positive for the coronavirus in Serbia out of 18,233 tested, while 40 people died, an Apr. 6 statement said.
According to the Ministry of Health 7,894 people have been hospitalized of whom 271 are on ventilators.
Since the outbreak of the epidemic in Serbia a total of 625,773 people have tested positive for the virus while the death toll is 5,537.
Virologist of the Kraljevo Institute of Veterinary Science Milanko Sekler said on Apr. 6 the lower number of infections was not an indicator of a better epidemiological situation in Serbia. He told state TV that spring would definitely bring the number of cases down, but that epidemiological measures should not be relaxed.
