Over the last 24 hours, 17 people have died of COVID-19 in Serbia, raising the death toll of the epidemic to 6,681, a post on the covid19.rs website on Nov. 16 said.
A total of 568 people out of 8,331 tested positive. Hospital care is being provided for 2,799 COVID patients, 99 of whom require assisted ventilation.
Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said on May 15 that vaccination was necessary so that the country could open up and allow weddings, birthdays and other celebrations as of June 21. Brnabic said at least 50 percent of adults would need to be vaccinated for this to happen. She added that approximately 42 percent of Serbian adults had been vaccinated.
