The Health Ministry state secretary, Mirsad Djerlek, on May 18 said that four million doses of Covid-19 vaccines, so far administered to Serbia’s citizens, had been producing results, which according to him, was seen by a fewer number of new cases, noting though that the behavior of citizens with regard to countermeasures was not praiseworthy.

“A large number of citizens have been obeying the measures, but also not a small number of people have not been following them. Caution is still required as this is not over yet,” Djerlek told TV Pink. He added that “young and working people aged between 40 and 60 bear great social responsibility.”

“I believe that it is up to them whether we will achieve our target on June 30 – to have three million people revaccinated,” Djerlek said.

He added that it was not easy to win a battle against the coronavirus. “The figures are much better than before, but only when we have under 100 new cases per day, we can say that we have won the battle,” Djerlek noted.
