Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic told journalists in Brussels in the evening on May 18 that her talks with EU officials on reforms, regional cooperation and the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue were very constructive.

She said that she spoke with EU High Representative Josep Borrell, MEP Tanja Fajon, rapporteur for Serbia Vladimir Bilcik, as well as Miroslav Lajcak, the EU envoy for the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue.

The prime minister added that she was pleased with the talks, and that the topics discussed mostly concerned reforms on Serbia’s EU path, the rule of law, the implementation of the OSCE’s ODIHR recommendations, the dialogue with Pristina, and what Serbia is doing when it comes to regional cooperation.

Brnabic also said that she conveyed to EU officials her opinion that the dialogue is in the best interest of both Belgrade and Pristina, and of the entire region, and that there is a sense of frustration in the EU over the postponement of the first meeting within the dialogue because of Pristina. She also expressed her hope that this meeting will be scheduled for June.

The prime minister also said that Serbia continues to work together with numerous international organizations on making the position of news media and journalists in the country safer.
