Serbian Interior Minister Aleksandar Vulin criticized on June 17 Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Grlic Radman for calling on the five EU member-states that do not recognize Kosovo's independence to do so.
"How can the Balkans be stable, if Serbia is torn apart?," Vulin asked and voiced his hope that the Croatian minister would not respond by claiming that "he was attacked when someone responds to him," the Interior Ministry said.
Vulin also asked how was it possible that Grlic Radman was calling for the recognition of Kosovo while at the same opposing changing borders in the Balkans. "There is no science that can explain why so-called Kosovo can become a state but that Republika Srpska must remain an entity," Vulin added.
The Croatian foreign minister said on June 16 that Croatia was encouraging the five EU member-states that have not recognized Kosovo to do so. "Croatia encourages the remaining five EU member-states to recognize Kosovo, because this will bring stability to the region and Kosovo itself," Grlic Radman said adding that the territorial integrity of the Balkan countries needed to be preserved and respected, without refashioning borders.
