Democratic Party leader Zoran Lutovac said on June 18 that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic had practically recognized Kosovo's independence, "he just has not admitted it yet."
"When Vucic says he will never recognize Kosovo, he is saying: 'I will never admit that I have recognized [it],'" Lutovac told Prva TV.
He said that Pristina had essentially gotten from Serbia everything it had asked for, while recognition "by Serbia has remained as a formality."
He went on to say that the Serb List party took part in elections in Kosovo, that it swore oaths on the Kosovo Constitution and that an official of the party was a deputy prime minister in the Kosovo government.
Speaking about the news that the Montenegrin Parliament has adopted a Declaration on genocide in Srebrenica, Lutovac said that upon becoming a member of NATO that country had pledged to act the way its allies expected it to.
"Montenegro has made a decision which was suggested and expected, that is not something that could have been ignored or [something] that is a big surprise. The question is whether Montenegro wants to continue down the strategic path which does not change with the change of government, and all steps are focused on that," said Lutovac.
Lutovac, who was once Serbia's ambassador to Podgorica, said that the matter of that declaration was not a matter of "an excess or a lack of patriotism."
