The European Union (EU) needs to keep the entire Western Balkans region on its course to Europe, EU High Representative Josep Borrell said during a July 10 visit to the Croatian coastal town of Dubrovnik.

Speaking at the 14th Dubrovnik Forum, Borrell described the Union as "the best combination of political freedoms and economic progress, as well as social solidarity, in the world," Radio Free Europe has reported.

"We are not perfect, but we are the best, which is why we need to keep going with everyone who shares our vision. This means keeping the focus on the Western Balkans and the entire region on its European road, and reviving the Serbia-Kosovo dialogue as well," the EU high representative said.

The Union's special representative for the talks between Belgrade and Pristina, Miroslav Lajcak, said that the EU had invested the most in the Western Balkans, and that it had other challenges to face, including Brexit, Donald Trump's term at the head of the United States, China's actions and the coronavirus pandemic.
