Parliament speaker Ivica Dacic on July 27 said he expected the inter-party dialogue on improving the electoral process to resume by the end of the week, noting that the dialogue “has been entering the phase” when certain agreements could be reached.

Dacic told TV Pink that his statement referred to the dialogue with the opposition without international mediation, adding that “no one can tell” whether the possible agreements would be in line with someone’s expectations.

Dacic also said that the dialogue on improvements to the electoral process had been conducted on two tracks. As for the Track B dialogue with the opposition, mediated by MEPs, participants “should provide some proposals by Sept. 1,” according to Dacic.

Dacic also noted that the election laws had not been changed since 2000, adding that the goal of the inter-party dialogue was to return politics to where it belonged, the institutions.
