As of Aug. 16, the citizens and residents of North Macedonia will have to have vaccination certificates to enter bars, cafes, and restaurants, or to attend music and sporting events.
Due to the rapid spread of COVID-19 in North Macedonia, the government of that country has decided to ban all indoors events starting Aug. 16, while to attend outdoors events everyone over 18 years of age will be required to show proof of receiving at least the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Certificates of recovery will also be accepted, but they will be valid for only 45 days.
The said measures apply to all events with more than 30 people in attendance, while all vendors and venues are required to ensure that the measures are respected and carried out.
Authorities in Skopje have also announced that they would introduce stricter control over the implementation of anti-COVID-19 measures, as well as fines for those caught disrespecting them. Citizens without certificates, or those caught with forgeries, will be fined EUR250. Depending on the venue size, legal entities could be fined between EUR2,500 and EUR30,000, while the responsible person would have to pay EUR1,500 should their establishment fail to respect the measures.
Furthermore, the measures will also apply to not only other public events, such as concerts, seminars, conferences, cultural and sports manifestations, but private events as well, such as weddings and christenings which may only be organized outdoors.
