Tatjana Adzic Vukicevic, the head of the temporary COVID-19 hospital in Batajnica in Belgrade, said on Aug. 30 that the situation in that health center was becoming “alarming” as they were taking care of 446 patients, while at the beginning of August there had been only 84.

She said that if the number of the newly infected kept rising, the hospital would reach its full capacity within seven to ten days.

“What’s most worrying is that there are around 60 patients in intensive care and that there are eight times more intubated patients than on Aug. 1,” the hospital head told the RTS public service.

According to her, 90 percent of those hospitalized were unvaccinated. She once again called on the citizens, especially health professionals, to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

“There are also unvaccinated healthcare professionals among the deceased. It is incredible that we have people who work within the COVID-19 system who haven’t received the shots. I’ve no words for that, and it should absolutely be punishable, because I don’t see anything bad has happened to those who have been vaccinated,” the hospital head concluded.
