Health Ministry state secretary Mirsad Djerlek has said that the introduction of Covid health passes would most likely be discussed at the next session of the Crisis Headquarters.

“I will be honest, the introduction of health passes, which I expect to be discussed at the next session of the Crisis Headquarters, have seriously being considered. Also, the number of people at gatherings will be restricted,” Djerlek told the Sept. 7 issue of Belgrade daily Blic.

Djerlek also said he disagreed with the positions that Covid health passes were discriminatory and that they would separate the unvaccinated from the vaccinated. “It would only mean that people would be requested to present a certificate of vaccination, a proof of previous Covid infection or some negative test, that is all,” Djerlek explained.

According to him, Serbia “now needs 80 percent of its population vaccinated” to reach herd immunity, adding that “the epidemic is defeated by vaccination, not countermeasures.”
