More than 30 environmental organizations and individuals gathered around the Environmental Uprising group will hold a protest rally called Uprising for Survival on Sept. 11.
"This summer we were left thirsty, we breathe toxic air, while land is being sold off. The construction of mini hydropower plants continues, forests are cut down, mines expanded, quarries opened. Those who raise their voice are beaten up or threatened. A dark future is planned for Serbia. This is about the survival of all of us," says a statement issued by the organizations.
The rally will be held outside the Presidency of Serbia at 2 p.m. Aleksandar Jovanovic Cuta of the Defend the Rivers of Mt. Stara Planina organization, Zaklina Zivkovic of The Right to Water initiative and others will address the gathering.
