On Sept. 10, Serbian MPs are starting a new session at which they will review three international agreements.
The ratification of an agreement between the Serbian and German governments on war memorials will be on the agenda, with the aim to, as a press release put it, enable the immortalization of the memory of military personnel and civilian victims of war who were killed or died during or because of the wars, as well as to preserve their place of burial in line with the Geneva Conventions for the protection of war victims of Aug. 12, 1949, the Additional Protocols to the Geneva Conventions of June 8, 1977, as well as other norms.
The agreement states that cultivating the traditions of wars for the liberation of Serbia, protection of monuments and memorials of the wars for liberation, military tombs and cemeteries of fighters in the country and abroad are under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Labor, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs.
The MPs will also ratify an agreement with Cyprus on cooperation in the field of protection against disasters, which entails cooperation in protection, rescue and elimination of consequences of disasters, exchange of know-how in that area, as well as development of rescue equipment.
