Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has stated that he would “lead Serbia to even greater might and strength, so that [the country] is able to aid Republika Srpska – [while] never trespassing against the laws of Bosnia and Herzegovina – [as well as] aid the Serbian people in Montenegro and everywhere else in the world.”

Speaking at the main ceremony commemorating Serbia’s Unity, Freedom and National Flag Day, held in Belgrade on Sept. 15, Vucic said that he would invest “body and soul” into strengthening Serbia.

The president thanked the Serbs in Republika Srpska and Montenegro as well as all those representatives of the Serbian people “who are not ashamed to call themselves Serbs in Montenegro.”

“I’d also like to offer great thanks to our martyred people in Kosovo and Metohija – and to all those who dared not raise their Serbian flag due to the threats of the regimes under which they live in the region,” Vucic stressed, adding that the Serbian flag “is not a call to adhere to a single way of thinking but rather to the exact opposite: to nurture all our differences under the red, blue and white colors of one flag.”

Milorad Dodik, the Serb member of the presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, told the gathering that he was proud that the parliaments of Serbia and Republika Srpska jointly adopted a law safeguarding the Serbian Cyrillic script. “This is a part of our joint efforts and our unity,” Dodik said, adding that the law was only the first of many which Serbia and Republika Srpska plan to adopt together.
