The head negotiators in the Belgrade-Pristina dialog are due to arrive in Brussels in the next few days, Peter Stano, spokesperson for European Union High Representative Josep Borrell, confirmed on Sept. 27, also stressing that special police forces in northern Kosovo had to be immediately withdrawn and roadblocks removed for the purpose of unconditionally defusing tension.
Stano noted that Borrell had spoken over the phone with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Kosovo Premier Albin Kurti on Sept. 26.
He indirectly confirmed that, as part of "general EU diplomatic activity," U.S. envoy to Kosovo Gabriel Escobar would be included in efforts in Brussels to find a solution for the crisis in northern Kosovo, which would be "useful involvement" by the U.S.
