NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoana said in Belgrade on Nov. 15 that Serbia's long-time partnership with the Alliance was good for its citizens, for regional security and for broader transatlantic security.

At the opening session of the 101st Rose-Roth Seminar of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, hosted by the Serbian parliament, Geoana said in a video message that Serbia gave a valuable contribution to security across Europe and the world.

This fall marked a special jubilee, the 15th anniversary of Serbia's participation in the Partnership for Peace, said Geoana. He also said that he knew NATO could count on Serbia's constant support and that he hoped the constructive partnership would continue for the next 15 years, adding that Serbia could count on NATO.

President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Gerald Connolly said that the stability of the Western Balkans remained "absolutely key" for Euro-Atlantic security. Connolly, who also addressed the seminar via a video message, highlighted the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina as particular challenges.
