North Macedonia has met all requirements and will have achieved full military integration into NATO as of Nov. 16, North Macedonian Defense Minister Radmila Sekerinska has stated.
She said the final integrative conference between NATO and the West Balkan state rounded off the "test period" for her country's membership in the military alliance. By signing a declaration on Nov. 16., North Macedonia "is literally completing military integration into NATO and becoming a full member in all military parts of the Treaty Organization."
"We have shown that we meet the required goals and deliver results even under a very ambitious agenda. This is in a way the end of our 'test period' in NATO. We have met the requirements for military integration and are moving forward with so-called shared NATO planning," Sekerinska said.
The process of North Macedonia's military integration into NATO began two and a half years ago when the country was invited to join the alliance. In March 2020, North Macedonia became a full member of that military and political organization.
