Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced on July 18 that he had a meaningful talk with Karen Pierce, the United Kingdom's special envoy to the Western Balkans, about key regional issues, Serbia's bid to join the European Union and bilateral relations.
In an Instagram post, Vucic wrote that he had congratulated Pierce on her appointment and expressed Serbia's readiness to continue an open dialogue and constructive cooperation. He noted that he had thanked the UK for its "strategic approach to the region," including support for Serbia's European path and the organization of an upcoming Berlin Process summit in London.
"I stressed that, even though Serbia-United Kingdom relations are good, there is considerable room for their further improvement, while relying on the long tradition and historic ties between our nations. I put emphasis on economic cooperation and the continuity of high-level political dialogue, including an invitation to Prime Minister [Keir] Starmer to visit Serbia," Vucic said.
Pierce met with other senior Serbian officials too and discussed EU integration, the rule of law and parliamentary cooperation.
