Epidemiologist Predrag Kon said on Nov. 23 that the Crisis Headquarters in charge of response to Covid-19 would meet this week, noting that it was important to inform the public timely on when the winter school break would start and what sort of behavior was envisaged for New Year’s Eve and other gatherings and in ski resorts.
“It should be analyzed whether a drop in the number of new Covid cases is temporary and the result of the countermeasures imposed in parallel, which also include Covid passes for restaurants, cafes and night clubs starting from 8 pm and a short extension of the recent school break,” Kon, a member of the Crisis Headquarters, told TV Pink.
Asked about Covid passes, Kon said that medical members of the Covid response team believed that the passes should be required 24/7, adding that the main explanation for not doing so was the need to enforce this measure gradually for to be able to control its implementation.
“We believe that the passes should be required 24 hours a day. The fact is that the existing measure has produced certain results. Medical members have to realize that we are not the only members of the Crisis Headquarters, decisions are rather complex. It is why the Crisis Headquarters comprises individuals of various professions, including economists, legal and communication experts,” Kon noted.
