Croatian President Zoran Milanovic said on Jan. 25 that Croatia would withdraw all of its troops in the event that the crisis on the Ukranian and Russian border escalated.

"We have nothing to do with that nor will, I guarantee you. Not only will we not send troops, but if there is an escalation we will withdraw all of our troops down to the last soldier," Milanovic, who is the supreme commander of armed forces of Croatia which is a member of NATO, said.

When asked about the situation on the Ukranian-Russian border close to which Croatian troops have been deployed as part of NATO operations, Milanovic said that the crisis was serious and "has nothing to do with Ukraine or Russia, but that dynamics of U.S. internal policy." Milanovic said that Ukraine did not belong in NATO and added that there were ways and modalities to preserve the integrity of that country or 99 percent of it and help it economically.

On the other side Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic recently stated that Croatia "will react clearly and decisively to avoid any kind of instability," but gave no more details.
