Epidemiologist Zoran Radovanovic has said that the coronavirus was occasionally making waves, but that this was the last big wave and that a more normal life would begin in March.

"More is possible, if there are any radical mutations, but I don't believe this will happen. We will have new variants, but there will be no dramatic changes so life will become more normal after March," Radovanovic told the latest edition of Nedeljnik.

According to him, new vaccines will be released next season, and the second generation of vaccines will be conceived differently so that they are not specifically tied to any particular strain, as up until now vaccines were designed only for the original strain. "Everything will depend on us. The problem here is that unlike some diseases that create permanent immunity, immunity in this case is relatively weak and is measured in months after one recovers... The best thing is if a person is protected by a vaccine and recovers," Radovanovic said.

He added that, like the flu, since immunity was not lasting, there would be a need for some people to occasionally get vaccines, possibly for several years. "No one will be forced to get vaccinated and anti-vaxxers  are abusing this, there will be no coercion, nobody will force children or even adults to do this," the epidemiologist added.
