The Serbian Radical Party has submitted an election ticket with 250 candidates for the April 3 general election to the Serbian Election Commission. The ticket, as the party's deputy president Aleksandar Seselj put it, includes only members of the party.
He said late on Feb. 17 that the ticket did not include "singers, entertainers or retired athletes," rather that they were solely party members who would implement the Serbian Radical Party policy in parliament.
"We are proud of our members, they faithfully represent our political party and national policy. We have never put forward actors, singers or any other entertainers, retired athletes and the like, who will not represent the policy of any party after these elections, either in parliament or on the political scene, who will only be used in the campaign," said Seselj.
He further said that some 12,000 signatures of citizens' support had been gathered in a relatively short time, even though the Serbian Radical Party had not had "any privileged circumstances for gathering those signatures, like the ruling parties."
Seselj announced that the Radicals would officially launch their election campaign on Feb. 18, with the slogans "Under Serbia's flag" and "Seselj for prime minister."
