Dr Predrag Kon, a member of the Serbian government’s COVID Crisis Headquarters, said on Feb. 28 that this week would show if the number of new coronavirus infections would go up or down.
“A drop in the number of new COVID cases has been sustained despite the return to school, and if the figure decreases further, it may linger between 2,000 and 2,600 in the coming days,” the epidemiologist said in an interview with the Serbian Broadcasting Corporation (RTS), explaining that returning holidaymakers may stop the decline.
Dr Kon also said that Serbia was very far from relaxing restrictions, as the pandemic is nowhere near over. In a comment on a fourth vaccine boost, the epidemiologist said that research was underway to show if it might better be age-relevant.
