In an April 24 letter to his French counterpart, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic congratulated Emmanuel Macron on winning a second term as French president, the Office of the President of Serbia reported.
Vucic said that that the trust the citizens of France conferred upon Macron was “a clear confirmation that his leadership rests on the principles and values that are deeply rooted in the French nation.”
“Freedom, equality and brotherhood are eternal and universal principles the essence of which we should all revisit, at this moment in history perhaps more strongly than ever,” Vucic said. According to the Serbian president, by sharing those values Serbia remained committed to strengthening the relationship with France, based on traditional friendship and a strategic partnership.
“I am confident that with your re-election the Serbian-French relationship is poised to reach new heights. France can count on Serbia as a true friend and partner, and I am confident that Serbia, too, can count on the support of your country in securing peace and stability in the Western Balkans,” the Serbian president said in his message.
