By demanding snap elections and thereby entering the field of politics, the university students who have been blockading their schools since late last year and their mentors can now expect a political response, the leader of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party, Milos Vucevic, said on May 7.
“They should now say who their representatives are, state their numbers and their stances on important national issues such as Kosovo and Metohija, the developments in Republika Srpska, relations with Russia and Ukraine. What their stance is on Srebrenica, Operation Storm and other issues,” Vucevic told Pink TV.
The former prime minister went on to say that nothing is known about the students demanding elections but that it is now clear their aspirations were political from the start.
Vucevic concluded by pointing out that the blockades have affected Serbia’s economy as well, resulting in dwindling public support for the student strike.
