Serbian Finance Minister Sinisa Mali has said that the state will start issuing RSD10,000 payments of one-time assistance to researchers and the staff of public educational institutions beginning on April 27.
Mali told the RTS public service that all payments will be completed by April 29, with the first recipients being the employees of schools of special importance, such as the Philological and Mathematical high schools in Belgrade and Serbia’s oldest secondary school, the Karlovci Gymnasium. First priority will also be given to the employees of state-owned secondary and post-secondary student housing facilities.
According to the minister, the second tier of recipients, who will receive aid on April 28, comprises researchers and the staff of post-secondary schools, while elementary and high school employees will be paid on April 29. “That amounts to over 130,000 public employees, and we have allotted 1.6 billion dinars for [this purpose],” Mali said.
The minister added that, at its session scheduled for April 28, the government will issue a recommendation to local administrations, suggesting that the same amount of aid be given to the employees of state-run daycares and kindergartens.
