Serbian parliament speaker Ivica Dacic and the EU special representative for the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, in Belgrade on June 30 said that the dialogue was the only right way toward achieving a sustainable agreement between Belgrade and Pristina.

Dacic said that the dialogue and compromise represented the only right way toward reaching a sustainable agreement between Belgrade and Pristina, adding that Belgrade remained fully committed to the dialogue and was ready for its resumption. “Our side is ready to resume the dialogue and discuss a number of open issues, but we are stressing that we are not ready to accept any unilateral decisions which are not contained in the agreements reached in the dialogue, and which directly jeopardize the rights of the Serb community in Kosovo and Metohija,” Dacic said according to a release from the Serbian parliament.

Lajcak, who is also EU special representatives for other Western Balkans issues, stressed that the dialogue was the only process toward normalization of relations between Serbia and Kosovo, and underlined the EU’s stand that the two sides should implement what had been agreed.

Lajcak also talked with leaders of several opposition parties and movements which will have their representatives in a new Serbian parliament. At the EU Delegation to Serbia Head Office in Belgrade, Lajcak talked with the leaders of the Freedom and Justice Party and the Democratic Party, Dragan Djilas and Zoran Lutovac respectively, the leaders of the movements Don’t Let Belgrade Drown and Ecological Uprising, Dobrica Veselinovic and Djordje Miketic, and People’s Party top official Stefan Jovanovic. The meeting was attended by EU Delegation to Serbia Head Emanuele Giaufret.
