On Monday, Aug. 1, Serbia’s new National Assembly will convene for a constitutive session wherein the mandates of the MPs elected on April 3 will be verified.

The constitution of the new assembly is deemed valid if at least two-thirds of the mandates are confirmed.

According to the agenda, during the constitutive session, the newly formed parliament is to elect its speaker, deputy speakers and secretary general, as well as members of parliamentary working bodies and standing parliamentary delegations to international institutions.

As agreed in the consultations on the formation of the new government held earlier in July, the confirmation of mandates and the taking of oaths is scheduled for Aug. 1, while the election of the speaker and the rest of the program will take place on Aug. 2.

Serbian Progressive Party’s Vladimir Orlic, as previously announced, will be nominated as the National Assembly Speaker candidate, and he will be assisted by seven deputies, three of whom would come from the opposition.
