A gay activist and one of the organizers of EuroPride 2022 in Belgrade, Goran Miletic, stated on Sept. 1 that a final agreement with the authorities about the holding of the pride parade from Sept. 12 to 18 would be reached in the next two days.
Miletic told BETA that talks were being held daily between the LGBT community and representatives of the Serbian government, about how to overcome the "latest circumstances" and hold the EuroPride in keeping with the plan. He added that communication with the highest representatives of republic and city authorities had never ceased.
"We will not give up on the march that is scheduled for Sept. 17. Also, we do not expect the police to ban the gathering in the open. We are currently working together on finding a solution for holding the EuroPride in the best possible way. I am optimistic and I believe we would have a final agreement in the next two days," Miletic said. He stated earlier that around 15,000 participants from the country and abroad would take part in EuroPride.
