Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said on Oct. 6 that, by suspending the delivery of oil to Serbia via the Janaf pipeline, Croatia has taken a hostile stance toward Serbia.

“All this is happening at Croatia’s initiative. Serbia is being punished for requesting justice for murdered children,” Brnabic told Happy TV, alluding to Serbia’s indictments against four Croatian military pilots over war crimes committed on Petrovacka Cesta during Operation Storm in 1995.

According to her, the halting of oil delivery will cause Serbia direct financial damages, thereby “costing the Serbian public” hundreds of millions of euros. “It’s a shameful decision on part of the EU and it has changed everything,” she added.

The prime minister further explained that Serbia does not have access to an alternate pipeline – a fact which Croatia “has taken advantage of.” “We cannot find cheaper oil, and fulfilling contracts seems to be optional. Bulgaria can use Russian oil but Serbia cannot,” Brnabic concluded.
