Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the citizens of Cetinje on Oct. 8 saying that sanctions against Russia were imperative and should be stepped up over time because Russia was a threat to all, but that it could not defeat them.

Zelensky addressed the denizens of Cetinje to express gratitude for the support that the town has been extending to Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian aggression. Zelensky's speech was telecast at the Dvorski Trg Square, where citizens of Cetinje assembled.

Russia's war against Ukraine, he said, is only "an inkling of what might be in store for any state on our continent or other parts of the world that this aggressor is capable of reaching."

Zelensky added that the current leaders of Russia had an obsessive desire to destroy the principle of democratic regime change in all countries toward which they harbored aggressive ambitions. He believes Russia is not just a threat to Ukraine, but everyone.

Ukrainian Ambassador to Montenegro Oleg Gerasimenko said the residents of the town of Cetinje had been supporting Ukraine non-stop for 100 days. "These exceptional people are the Cetinians. On behalf of Zelensky and the entire Ukrainian people, I thank the Cetinians and Montenegrins for their support," Gerasimenko said.
