The Serbian parliament on Oct. 18 started a first session of the autumn sittings, which is debating amendments to the Law on Ministries as a prelude to formation of a new Serbian government.
Amendments to the Law, submitted by 148 MPs, envisage 25 ministries in the future government, or four more than the incumbent cabinet of Ana Brnabic.
The amendments suggest that the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development be split into a Ministry of Education and a Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation. The changes also envisage setting up a Ministry of Public Investment.
The document further suggest that the jurisdictions of the Ministry of Culture and Information and the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications be split between a Ministry of Culture, a Ministry of Information and Telecommunications, a Ministry of Tourism and Youth, and a Ministry of Domestic and Foreign Trade.
It has been proposed that amendments to the Law on Ministries be the only item on the agenda of ongoing session. MPs are expected to give their say on the amendments by the end of the week.
